In the ASEAN Gala held last night at the SMX, President Rodrigo Duterte sang a duet with Ms. Pilita Corrales upon the urging of the United States President Donald Trump.

Turning it into a joke like what the jovial president we love always do, he told the crowd that he was "ordered" by Trump to sing.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I sang an invited duet with Ms. Pilita Corrales upon the orders of the Commander-in-chief of the United States."
But with what the Philippine president did, not everyone was happy. Katrina Stuart Santiago of the Manila Times was one of those who expressed their dismay at how our president acted.

Here's the video she was referring to.

As expected, Santiago's post did not make a lot of people happy, angry Duterte supporters came to their president's rescue.

One of them is De La Salle University Professor Antonio Contreras who took to Facebook to retort back to what Santiago said.

He started it of with asking what was wrong with the fact that the president did sing live during the gala event. He said that it in fact embodied the admirable act of the Filipinos to be hospitable and obliging to visitors.
So what is wrong about the President singing live during the gala event? If there is one beautiful thing that happened, it would be that. He embodied everything Filipino in us. Informal. Weird sense of humor. We always oblige a visitor. And that doesn't mean we are under his thumb or even like him.
Apparently, the professor got irked at Santiago for calling the president little brown monkey.
And on this I really have to call out my former Manila Times colleague Katrina Stuart Santiago here for calling the Presidemt a little brown monkey for doing so.Criticisms are fine Katrina. It is okay if you turn it into your art. But art is supposed to be human, and on this one it isn't.
