What started as a fun-filled day with his girlfriend ended as a tragedy for Police Officer Andrew Tamayo, 32. Tamayo fell 3 meters down into a lake when his zipline broke around 4pm Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened at the Laresio Lakeside Resort $ Spa in Barangay Tadla in Los Banos, Laguna. According to Los Banos police chief Sput. Arvin Avelino in a phone interview,
"Tamayo was off duty and was spending time with his girlfriend at that time."
He also added that Tamayo wanted to try the resort's zipline that crosses over the lake. But about 10 to 20 meters through it, the zip line snapped making Tamayo fall about 3 meters into the lake. It took the rescuers a good 10 to 15 minutes before he was rescued.

He was then given first aid and brought to Healthserv Medical Center due to the injuries he sustained. Unfortunately, he did not make it, he passed away 11pm that evening.

Avelino also said autopsy is being conducted on the policeman’s body but initial investigation showed he died of drowning. He said the victim was wearing a life vest and head gear when he went on the zipline.

Meanwhile, the resort already got in touch with victim's family, and it is still unclear if the family will file charges or not.

Furthermore, according to Inquirer, they tried to get the resort's side but the Officer-in-charge Cora Urrea was in a meeting and wasn't able to conduct an interview.

Based on the resort's website, they offer extreme activities like ziplining, rapelling, and even cliff diving.
